My first attempt with Materialize! I so wish I would be able to make this kind of gallery in Foundation too. Well, maybe one day...
Although the image seems to be tucked away into a corner in the project file, It won't be like that when viewed in a browser. But it looks like the Materialize css classes are overriding the positioning rules I tried. I have not used any css grid, with me it's all traditional css plus flexbox. I have used the code I found at materializecss.com, which seems to be the same as CC also has used.
For those who want a component, select the container with the class name 'carousel'. There is also a small script in the page manager that makes the carousel auto-play.
